Letters IX-XI

Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer.
Reflections on the Intimate Dialogue between Man and God.

Letter IX.

Lewis ponders the prayer and whether is acts on God, is a cause of action by God. He closes with this, “If God takes our sins into account, why not our petitions?”

Letter X.

Lewis continues his musings on how prayer works in the context of an omniscient and all powerful God. He ends with the thought that the world is not governed by God like a state is governed with laws, but more like a work of art where each person is a contributor (via prayer) and each person is both a means and an end.

Lette XI.

Lewis tackles the problem of the promise that whatever we ask for we will get. The evidence is that it is not true. One conclusion is that this is not for the beginning Christian to take on because it is bound to fail.
