Jesus the Dream Awakener. The kingdom of God has become background pop music to the ears of the Christian. We don't think about what it really means, or even know what it really means. "For Jesus the word kingdom meant, 'God's dream for this world come true.'"
Dream Come True. In Jesus' time, when he said the word kingdom, his listeners thought of a king, land, and citizens. "By kingdom Jesus means: God's Dream Society on earth, spreading out from the land of Israel to encompass the whole world." He was thinking about concrete realities on this earth.
The Dream: Society of Personal Spirituality? Jesus calls us to personal religious faith, but that is not what he means by kingdom. Remember the Lord's prayer: May you kingdom come and your will be done on earth as in heaven.
God's Dream: Ubuntu. Ubuntu is an African word that encompasses a saying, "A person is a person through other persons." In other words, we are designed to connect with other persons. Jesus vision of the kingdom includes this connectedness. "A Christian is someone who flows Jesus by devoting his or her One.Life to the kingdom vision of Jesus."
