Sex and the Kingdom Vision. Jesus' kingdom vision has much to say about sexuality, especially in this time when sexuality is on steroids.
Three Kinds of Sexual Statistics.
- The detail. Staggering numbers of young kids are having sex.
- Attitudes and experiences. Many young adults engaging in casual sex are dissatisfied with it.
- The nature of the relationship. Most of the sexual encounters occur outside a meaningful, long-term relationship.
Behavior of Love. Most people engaged in casual sex find it emotionally difficult. words like regret, used, guilt, empty, miserable, and even abused are used. There is no way that Jesus wants anyone to feel degraded because of a sexual relationship.
Sex and Science. Powerful chemical reactions are happening in the brain during a sexual encounter. Not only are pleasure chemical results. Chemical that signal bonding are also release. You don't get to choose who to bond with in a sense. "It is impossible to engage in the hookup culture without damaging your brain's innate desire for healthy, faithful, emotional bonding."
Sex and Love. The body is important. It cannot be separated from the soul. Love is a rugged commitment to be with someone. Sex is about love. Sex is about relationship. Without love and relationship, sex wounds.
The Three Hardest Words to Say Today: I.Love.You. The current culture views commitment in relationship as a hindrance to getting what you want. But, there is a real need for committed relationships, and not being in one makes one unhappy.
Romance.Anyone? Sexual casualness does not allow for romance in a relationship.
The Kingdom Choice: Chasing Romance or Settling into Fidelity? "There is only one guarantee for sustaining marriage in a kingdom way: the promise to stay married trumping emotional happiness.
