Chap. 13

Chapter 13: When "Follow the Leader" Isn’t Child’s Play

Wess believes, and will demonstrate, that sometimes God uses children to accomplish his ministry on earth. Jesus never told children to “grow up”. Rather, he encouraged adults to “grow down.”

Needed: Courage and Creativity (Exodus 2). Miriam saves Moses’ life with an inspired offer to the Egyptian princess who found him to find a nursemaid.

Needed: A Pure Channel in a Corrupt Era (1 Samuel 3). God used Samuel, a small boy, to deliver a powerful message to Eli about his, and his son’s, corruption.

Needed: Great Faith (1 Samuel 17). It took Dave, only a teenager, to slay Goliath.

Needed: A Compassionate and Forgiving Heart (2 Kings 5). An Israelite slave girl convinces the commander of the enemy army to go to Elisha to have his leprosy cured.

Needed: Great Generosity (John 6). A boy gives his entire lunch, 5 loaves and 2 small fish, to jump start feeding a multitude.

Needed: The Straight Truth (Mark 14), A young servant girl confronts Peter with the truth about his discipleship and he denies it.

Needed: Alertness to Danger (Acts 23). God used Paul’s nephew to warn him of great danger.

Needed: A Healing Prayer (Albania, Late 1980s). A group of Albanian children with great faith untainted by the cynicism of adults heal a floor of hospital patients.

Needed: An Evangelist in the Village (Ecuador 2004). The story of a 6 year old boy who led 60 other children to Christ.

Fit for the Job at Hand.
