The Gift of Good Land
Berry attempts a Biblical argument for ecological and agricultural responsibility and examines the practical applications of his argument.
Most of the time the creation story is used to model our attitude to creation. But, God’s words to Adam were given before the fall and she don’t really apply to us now. A more useful model is the Promised Land. The PL was not a permanent gift. It was a land that God watched over. And it was not given as a reward. The Israelite were supposed to prove themselves worth of by:
- Being faithful, grateful, and humble.
- Being neighborly.
- Practicing good husbandry.
