Jesus was a zealot, a moral zealot. When people asked him how best to follow him, his answers called for a radical disregard for anything that was not kingdom related. He had a passion for the poor and marginalized. He called us to be perfect, as he is perfect. Very hard words.
He Can't Be Serious… Some people soften the message. But, he is serious and meant what he said, we are called to perfection, but his disciples proved that it is not possible to follow him perfectly.
